The customer 

The leading supplier of premium products and premium services for individual mobility worldwide

The challenge 

Driver assistance systems present various additional product values for the user. This is enabled by a variety of back end components. To check performance and functionality, and to analyse errors, more than 60 million log entries are generated each day by using the service; in total, over 3.5 TB of log entries for approx. 4 weeks and 80 components. Analysing errors efficiently and effectively is no longer possible with the standard technologies. Therefore, analysis tools based on innovative open source technologies must be provided for processing large volumes of data with an easy-to-use web interface.

The solution 

iteratec designed and implemented a secure, high-performanc,e and easy-to-use three-layer log analysis system.

  • A tailor-made Elasticsearch Engine which is filled by Logstash was developed to store, index and search the log entries.
  • A residual interface was implemented to save data and conduct a personalised search based on the roles and rights of the user.
  • The quick and user-friendly search was implemented in AngularJS to improve the performance and to reduce load on the back end.

The added value 

Thanks to the new Cockpit, it is now possible to conduct error analysis in the Telematik back end based on all of the stored data. Due to  efficient full text searches of hundreds of millions of entries, error analysis can be conducted more quickly.

The search mask and results are presented in a user-friendly way to allow for  goal-orientated work. 

Direct automated requests are met  via the residual interface. Direct access to Elasticsearch also allows complex big data analytics with log data.

The customers is a leading supplier of premium products and premium services for individual mobility worldwide

The challenge 

The customer advertises a completely new generation of vehicles and mobility services. In order to ensure the same level of customer satisfaction for these products and services as for the traditional combustion engines, various new components had to be designed and developed for the telematics backend. The main challenge was the implementation of the complex calculations and algorithms (e.g. charging status, remaining distance), which had to match the individual vehicle implementations. Additionally, a key task was to satisfy the high level of performance requirements in connection with the stability of the implementation.

The solution

  • iteratec designed and implemented various backend systems. These systems enable the efficient and stable storage of vehicle status data as well as their enrichment with statistical data (CSI),
  • the dynamic download of previously calculated charging status data, distances and driving style analyses (CCG),
  • the direct and synchronised writing of critical data from the vehicle (CSU) and
  • the platform-independent notification via smart phones.

The high level of volume requests to the backend required the development to be focused on efficiency and stability.

The added value 

With the introduction of the new vehicle technology innovative services were provided for the use of electric vehicles. They enable customers to fully control the charging process and routing of their vehicles via smart phone apps and portals. Thanks to a complex driving style analysis the customer can learn to use the vehicle even more efficiently. Additionally, customers can compare their own driving styles with the rest of the community. If any problems arise during the charging process, the customers are alerted via a push notification in order to be able to act more quickly.
