IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DRIVENOW CAR-SHARING SERVICE.
Car-sharing services by BMW and MINI
In order to provide the car-sharing service, BMW and MINI vehicles must be fitted with a car-sharing client to monitor and manage vehicle usage, and a distributed service infrastructure must be set up between the participating partners to process vehicle bookings.
Our solution
iteratec provided support with the design and implemented the car-sharing client for BMW on an Android platform, as well as the car-sharing backend services as part of the ConnectedDrive platform.
The usage process is controlled via external devices (vehicle, RFID reader, LED) connected via the Android platform, whilst the booking and billing systems of the joint venture partners are integrated via the tried-and-tested ConnectedDrive platform.

BMW is expanding its product range to include an innovative solution for urban mobility. This involves combining smart services with mobile solutions and making them available within urban areas.
