To deliver the car-sharing service, BMW and MINI vehicles needed to be equipped with a car-sharing client for monitoring and controlling vehicle usage, alongside a distributed service infrastructure established between the partner companies to handle vehicle booking processes.
iteratec supported the conceptual design and implemented the car-sharing client for BMW on an Android platform, along with car-sharing backend services as part of the ConnectedDrive platform.
The usage process is controlled via external devices (vehicle, RFID reader, LED) connected through the Android platform, while the booking and billing systems of the joint-venture partners are integrated via the proven ConnectedDrive platform.
