For the energy transition to succeed, more than just renewable energy is needed. The power grid must remain stable at all times, even when the wind isn’t blowing and the sun isn’t shining. As the share of renewable energy increases, generation becomes volatile. Under these conditions, batteries can help stabilize the grid and balance generation and consumption. This is precisely where The Mobility House Energy’s vision comes in: using electric cars as mobile energy storage to offer emission-free and cost-free e-mobility while simultaneously stabilizing the power grid. iteratec contributed to the development of eyond through technical consulting and implementation.
The number of registered electric vehicles on the roads is rising, and with it, the potential of vehicle batteries. When used as energy storage devices, electric vehicles can help stabilize the grid. For example, by feeding energy back into the grid during peak demand periods and charging when electricity is being produced in excess. The technology behind this is called Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G).
This enables two things: First, it promotes climate-neutral mobility, as this solution allows renewable energy to be specifically utilized and integrated into the power grid. Second, users benefit from noticeably lower costs through smart charging during times of low electricity prices, which often occur when large amounts of renewable energy are being produced.
To make this vision a reality, The Mobility House Energy entered the electricity trading market and sought a partner to support them in the technical implementation.
eyond is an electric vehicle charging solution—consisting of a green electricity plan and an app that allows customers to purchase green, affordable electricity for their homes and electric vehicles. Together with The Mobility House Energy, our colleagues at iteratec developed a key component of this solution: the eyond app.
Smart charging ensures that electric vehicles are automatically charged when electricity rates are particularly low. To achieve this, vehicle and charging station data are analyzed in the background during the charging process and compared with individual charging goals. The charging control for the vehicles and charging stations is continuously optimized by the underlying platform, which purchases electricity on the power exchange.
Users benefit from guaranteed lower electricity prices while still having a fully charged vehicle ready at their desired departure time.

With eyond, we demonstrate that electric mobility can be more than just emission-free driving—it becomes an active component of a smart, stable, and affordable energy system. Together with iteratec, we are laying the technical groundwork for our OEM and utility customers so they can harness the enormous storage potential of electric vehicles for the energy transition—starting today and scalable for the future.
CSO and Managing Director of The Mobility House
iteratec supported The Mobility House Energy every step of the way, from the initial idea to market readiness. Over the course of four years, we worked together to develop the end-user app and the associated backend, creating a scalable system architecture that combines smart rates with intelligent charging control and ensures reliable operation as customer numbers grow.
Today, eyond is successfully established in the market. On the one hand, The Mobility House Energy uses the solution for its own customers; beyond that, automakers such as Renault also rely on the smart charging control and integrate the solution into their own infrastructure. On the other hand, eyond is used as a white-label solution by energy suppliers such as RheinEnergie AG, among others. The solution is attractive to energy providers because smart electricity rates open up new business models and opportunities for competitive differentiation.
eyond is one of the first solutions on the market to combine the advantages of dynamic and fixed electricity rates and make them available to end customers in the simplest way possible. This allows eyond customers to benefit from a rate with no price risk and gives them the opportunity to actively reduce their charging costs through controlled charging processes.
The potential of eyond is far from being fully realized. In France, for example, vehicle-to-grid technology is already a reality and is being implemented by The Mobility House Energy in collaboration with Renault and Mobilize. In Germany, however, the regulatory framework needed to use electric vehicles as temporary energy storage systems is currently still lacking. Overall, The Mobility House Energy has created a solution that not only improves supply security in an increasingly volatile energy system but also turns its customers into active participants in the energy transition—with the opportunity to benefit financially from it.
With eyond and its consistent use of V2G technologies, The Mobility House is positioning itself as a digital pioneer in the field of dynamic electricity rates and smart charging infrastructure. The close collaboration with iteratec has laid the foundation for a scalable, flexible, and forward-looking solution.
